EEPL’s ‘Make in India’ Industrial Silencer Initiative
In 2022, EEPL embarked on the development of industrial silencers for Nuclear Power plants as part of a ‘Make in India’ initiative. The project posed multiple challenges—from selecting appropriate material grades to meeting stringent quality standards.
One of the most critical stages was performance testing in accordance with ASTM E477, covering every silencer size involved. With no accredited laboratory in India able to support this requirement, EEPL devised its own test procedure aligned with E477 dimensional parameters.
To ensure accurate sound, pressure, and vibration measurements, EEPL partnered with acoustic experts and together, the teams successfully validated the sound-attenuation performance of all silencer models.
This collaborative effort culminated in April 2025, when the full order was completed and delivered—marking a significant milestone in domestic manufacturing and acoustic engineering.
