EEPL’s Advanced Damper Development and Certification

EEPL’s Advanced Damper Development and Certification

In 2024, EEPL undertook the challenge of developing a range of industrial dampers designed to meet AMCA performance guidelines and achieve ATEX certification for both fire and gravity applications. Aligning each design with stringent international standards, the team successfully completed ATEX design validation.

AMCA testing was carried out on 20 different sizes of Fire, Gravity, and Volume Control Dampers, using a range of input blowers and extended ducting setups. EEPL successfully met the specified pressure-drop criteria with remarkable accuracy, demonstrating the robustness of its design.

A key technical hurdle was optimizing gravity dampers for maximum opening in both vertical and horizontal installations. Through detailed CFD analysis, precise counterweight calculations, and iterative adjustment of blade-setting angles, the engineering team overcame these challenges.

After extensive test cycles, EEPL achieved a responsive design that allows the dampers to open up to 85% of their rated flow capacity and close smoothly once airflow ceases—delivering reliable performance for demanding industrial environments.
